The Mountains and Terrain:
Yes, mountains! This is not your typical Midwest ski hill. You don’t just go up and down the same side of one hill all day. Whitecap, Thunderhead and Eagles Nest mountains make up The Whitecap Mountains Ski Resort. They’re part of the ancient Penokee Range.

Spread over these sprawling mountains you will discover 43 fun ski trails. It’s true that some resorts may boast a higher vertical. Yet when you ski a Whitecap double diamond trail, you are challenged from top to bottom. None of this turning green halfway down the mountain. Expert skiers are even impressed with the quality of our easier terrain. They compliment our intermediate runs as being “more interesting” and “more fun” than at your typical Midwestern ski areas.

Many people feel that before heading west to ski the Rockies The Whitecap Mountains are the only place in the Midwest where you can really train yourself well. With the long lines at airport security and expensive airline prices, our affordable packages make skiing or snow-boarding The Whitecap Mountains a real bargain!

With 43 downhill runs, we have plenty of skiing for everybody at every skill level. And all skiers report that they like how we separate the area for beginners from the main ski traffic.

Because we offer so many trails on three unique mountains, be sure to pick up a trail map at the lift ticket counter. The map will help you navigate your way for a wonderful, wilderness Alpine experience.

We also offer more chairlifts per skier! There are no long lines. You don’t have to stand around waiting to reach the top of any of our mountains. You spend more time having fun doing what you came to do: ski.

Lodging:
We don’t forget your comfort when the sun goes down. Whitecap Lodge offers you rooms and suites, many with kitchens and all with Wi-Fi access. You will also find a swimming pool and huge hot tub to relax after an exciting day on the slopes. Maybe you’d like to be more romantic?

Rent a mountain chalet or condo – most include a fireplace – for your winter vacation. We also welcome and accommodate group travel.

Our Davos Chalet can headquarter groups up to 40 people. You will find an abundance of ski-in, ski-out lodging at The Whitecap Mountains. And we are just minutes away from Hurley’s famous Silver Street for lively nightlife and fine dining.

Wi-Fi is available when you’re in the Village Center and the Whitecap Lodge.

Got Dad and Mom out there to see the renovations on my Birthday, Jan. 14th this year. They were impressed. Mom learned to ski at Whitecap when she was growing up in Montreal, WI and then Mom and Dad came here as part of Sly Fox Ski Club. I even got Dad out on skis on Jan. 14th. We had a fun day. Then we all were sad on the Friday of MLK weekend. Now we look forward to the future! The Best is Truly Yet to Come for Whiteccap!!

Sad but exciting! hope you're able to find ways to preserve some memorabilia from the old place if things were salvaged. Looking forward to seeing the new Whitecap!

Endings and new beginnings. Looking forward to seeing the new lodge next winter.

Boy, some good memories! I learned to drink bottled beer off my forehead in Bernie's Lounge while in college. Excited for the new chalet!

Wow sad but exciting. We had a great time there this year

Bittersweet.

Turn a negative into a positive ! Good Luck comes to those who work while they wait ! 😊

Wow! Lots of memories in that old building. First days on Alpine skis when I was 10.

Bitter - sweet

Sad

Sad to see the burned out old lodge, but looking forward to the new lodge!

Will the new building be in the same place?

Many of good times! But it’s a bit hazy.

Steven Wold

I hope it has the same homey atmosphere as the old building.

What are the plans for the new build?

Like a Phoenix Whitecap will rise!!! ❤️

The bar in the original section, if only the walls could talk! 😉

Sad because of the memories. Happy for the future!

Thank you, thank you, thank you

Had a great time golfing today. Thanks and we will be back.

David, we’re coming up the first week of August, staying at mountain meadows, will the pier be functional, or should we plan on repairing it again this this year.

Please post pictures of the progress. I am sad to see the recently remodeled lodge having to be demo’d, but excited to see what comes next!! 🎿 🏌️‍♀️

My family is going to stay at the resort for a week in late July. I believe we are staying at Mt. Meadows 7 and 8 this year. Should we expect a lot of noise?

Have you shared the plans for how things will be rebuilt?

Was Bernie saved?
